CCC Hymn 183 stanza 1:

Life Evermore,
We have life Evermore
Our loving God He is breathing
His breath of life on us

Yesterday, we laid a foundation that one of the evidences that we are friends of God is to obey not only the general instructions but the instruction that will come to us personally. Amen. Knowing well that the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ is to redeem us back to God and in the process also give us a new life, we must endeavor not to allow this to go in vain. Amen.

Today’s reading captured apostle Paul’s letter to the Colossians when he charged them that one of the evidences of the new life is to set their mind and focus on things that are above and not things that are on this earth. This interesting to note! Nothing else should be their focus but only ‘realities to heaven’. This part of the scripture has most times been interpreted to mean that we should forget all things on earth but instead focus on the coming kingdom. No, what this text is actually saying is that we must endeavor to operate while on this earth bearing in mind the ‘realities of heaven’. Some of these realities include:

(i) All things are possible for them that believe

(ii) Doing the will of the Father is essential

(iii) A life of continuous worship

(iv) A life of eternal joy

Beloved, to live in this world, you need to live with those realities of heaven. For example, without a life of faith and absolute trust in the awesome power of God, a man will not be able to get to where has been prepared for him as he will be confronted by giants which he must subdue. Amen. Also, a man need to daily align to the plan and purposes of God for His life if he is to live a fulfilled life and get a good reward when he goes to the world beyond. Amen. Lastly on this, a man needs to live in constant joy irrespective of what he is passing through knowing well that although sadness may prevail for a night, joy comes in the morning.

May God grant you a deeper understanding of this instruction in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

What do you understand by the ‘realities of heaven’?
