Calvary greetings in the mighty name of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

I view with great concern recent reports published by some online media platforms concerning our great church, the Celestial Church of Christ Worldwide and find it pertinent to respond appropriately and to correct any misconceptions that might have been created in the minds of the general public by the reports in question.

I must state here that the report which suggests that there is a division within the Board of Trustees of the church is completely false. As Chairman of the Board, the authority to call for meetings and to preside over same as vested in me by section 139 of the constitution of our church remains sacrosanct. To suggest that this function is not being carried out by me but by another member of the Board is to desecrate, demean and abuse the office, person and position of the Pastor of the Celestial Church of Christ Worldwide.

Please note that the Board is not under any constitutional obligation to make public the venue and time of its meetings. Such meetings are held at the discretion of the Pastor and decisions are jointly taken for the progress of the church and humanity. Section 151 of the Celestial Constitution (Blue Book) is very clear on this, “The Board shall meet at such time and place as shall be determined by the Pastor, who has the sole authority to summon a meeting of the Board.”

Ditto for the appointments, posting and transfer of Shepherds who are also known as Pastor’s Representatives. Celestial constitution section 115 states and I quote, “The appointment of Pastor’s Representative to a Parish shall be made by the Pastor in consultation with the Head of Diocese. The Pastor may, however, make a direct appointment of his Representative to any Parish and inform the Head of Diocese accordingly.”

Section 108 of the church’s constitution states that “The Pastor as the ultimate Spiritual Head of the Celestial Church of Christ worldwide shall be vested with the SOLE, ULTIMATE AND UNCHALLENGEABLE AUTHORITY on all matters affecting church life, be it planning, organisation, doctrinal standards and the spread of Doctrines, Education, Legislation or Discipline, the provisions of this constitution notwithstanding.”

My action in appointing all members of the newly constituted Pastor in Council, after due consultations, was therefore within my constitutional powers. Before then, I’d exercised the same powers in appointing members of the present Board of Trustees of the church.

Concerning the composition and dissolution of the 70th Anniversary Celebration Committee. The said Committee was appointed by me, acting within my constitutional powers, for a specific purpose. That purpose was to plan and ensure a befitting 70th anniversary celebration for the church two years ago. That assignment has since been completed. The decision to dissolve the Committee was reached after due consultations with members of the Board of Trustees and Pastor in Council. The uproar that followed such a reasonable and logical action is to say the least quite shocking. This notwithstanding, I make bold to say here that the 70th Anniversary Celebration Committee remains dissolved.

Now to financial matters. Never in the history of our church has probity and transparency in the administration of the church’s finances been given more priority. The financial system we have in place now is so water tight that cases of financial hemorrhage have been eliminated. All expenditure are done only after passing through layers of scrutiny and approval, with the final approval for disbursements given by the Pastor. I consider it very unfair that the Treasurer of the Board has been presented as running a one-man show in the administration of church finances.

Let me make it abundantly clear that I have untainted confidence in Superior Evangelist Pius Olarewaju, in his capacity as the Treasurer of the Board and the church’s Head of Finance. The reforms, which he championed, in the last few years have led to the visible progress which the church has recorded in recent times. And for this, I must commend him.

It is therefore simply unthinkable for anyone to suggest, insinuate or allude that any member of the Board has usurped my Pastoral roles. The Celestial Church of Christ is not and cannot be a breeding ground for tyrants. The Holy Spirit directs and we follow.

I would not want to dissipate energy to address this issue again after this missive. Let all aggressors sheathe their swords. Let there be peace.

And may the peace of the Lord continue to abide with us now and forever more. Amen.
