SOURCE OF ENCOURAGEMENT?
Job 29:24 (NLT):
When they were discouraged, I smiled at them. My look of approval was precious to them
CCC Hymn 773 stanza 1:
Let us unite, let us unite
With holy tender love
Let’s pray to God every moment
And pay respect to our king and Lord
And wash each one another’s hands
With holy love divine
Job was a man who was entirely different in his generation. His walk with God was not known to few and many. As a result God blessed him abundantly and beyond measures. However, a point came in his life when he was tried by the devil. He lost all that he had including his children. During this ordeal, he began to recount his walk with God of how zealous he was. Todays’ reading captured the fact that he purposely made himself a source of encouragement to many. The Bible reading posited that when people were discouraged, he will take it upon himself to smile at them- an act which was precious to them. Amen. The Bible did not record that he laughed at them but that he smiled. Beloved, what is your disposition to your fellow man who is peradventure having some challenges or presently down? Don’t you laugh at them and say that is what serves them right? Don’t you say within yourself that more trouble is still coming to them? Beloved, today’s text in encouraging you to be a source of encouragement to others irrespective of what yourself may be passing through. It calls for a life of passion and consideration for other, putting yourself in their situation. May God help you in that regard in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
Know that although the person may be in the dark today, there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. May God grant you better understanding of this instruction in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
What important lessons can be drawn from today’s study with respect to our disposition to those who needs encouragement?
Micah 7:8; 1 Corinthians 8:9; 1 Thessalonians 5:11
Oh Lord, now I know that, I should be a source of encouragement to others irrespective of what I may be passing through, help me to live by this in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
